Good morning from America’s hat. Laura and I are heading to Crossfit Toronto in a little bit. Should be fun after the beer and chocolate cake last night and the pancakes my dad is making us right now.

Beth can you bring me some of that stuff back that is legal in Canada but not here, yet? Thanks and just flash your pretty smile as you come through customs…

Thanks HQ!! My butt hurts from those lunges yesterday. 15:36 for today’s workout. You know how I love the workouts that only require the speed, not the strength!!! How about some ghd’s next week, if you don’t mind.
Brent, you look like a total bad ass in that picture.

Scientists identify a human antibody capable of neutralizing most flu viruses and dubb it ‘supermantibody.’

In animal experiments, mice injected with lethal doses of the bird flu were able to recover as late as 5 days following injection thanks to supermantibody.

thanks momo! you too! Although you will be upset to know that Dan left out one more 400m run at the end of the workout this morning.

Oh well, life goes on. I thought I noticed that it ended on a run, so it’s my fault for not speaking up. I am still happy with my time.

Laura and I did this rowing 500m instead of running. I was trying to be quiet because CFTO was somewhat quiet but I’m not used to rowing 3500m and my quads are still burning 1.5 hours later…and it’s awesome. My time: 20:53. Laura said I sounded like I was giving birth. Why does rowing hurt so much more than running??
Amber: great job!! sounds like your pull ups are getting stronger!! Can’t wait to do more workouts with you. Keep it up.

oh, and we rowed because “they don’t run in the winter time”.

hey, Laura here. Didn’t take the time to sign Bethanie out on Type Pad but wanted to say hi from Canada. We had a good work out at Crossfit Toronto this morning (we never want to row that much again, ever). My other task this weekend is keeping Bethanie from eating the yellow snow.

I needed that laugh LaLa…so thanks. B, I make all sorts of noises while working out, for which the morning crew routinely laughs at me. Brent told me they sounded like love-making sounds and Heidi told me that she can hear that I am at the gym before she even gets inside. (Come to think of it, working out is kind of like sex, if it’s quiet, you’re not doing it right.) Not to mention the fact that my preferred ghd machine sounds like chitti chitti bang bang when I go fast on it. The morning crew is decidely quiet, and a couple of times I have tried yelling at myself for motivational purposes, like a drill sergeant, and they just look at me like it’s too early or that I’m strange, or both. Probably both.

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/02/26/toning.obama.arms/index.html
An article on how women are looking at Michelle Obama’s ‘toned’ (aka little fat and muscular) and wanting them. As well as what women should do to get toned arms. It isn’t an ideal article- but I was impressed by them pointing out that women cannot bulk up and to not be afraid of weights.
Then it all goes to crap when they recommend bicep curls.

    She mentions burpees here
    http://stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2009/02/27/michelle-obamas-right-to-bare-arms/
“It’s jump squats, you go down into a pushup then you jump up,” she said then about her routine. “What does [my trainer] call it? Squat thrusts! That’s the one I really hate. Squat thrusts with a pushup.
then someone says she probably uses light weights and high reps, whatever.

I did the lunge/pull-up/sit-up WOD to-day, and since I was doing it from memory, I got it all out of order, but I did do all the reps and all the sets. I did
    18 PU/SU, 100 ft lunge
    15 PU/SU, 100 ft lunge
    12 PU/SU, 100 ft lunge
    9 PU/SU, 100 ft lunge
    6 PU/SU, 100 ft lunge
    21 PU/SU, 100 ft lunge
So yeah, all messed up but it’s all there. Time was 14:18.
