Since my post yesterday was below the fold, apparently a few of you missed this. Below is the unedited email I got from my mother after she saw my photos from the crossfit regional this weekend. And yes, I lol’d.
    Hi Matthew,
Dad sent me your Crossfit photos. They are now on my email/computer.
Honey this is not exactly a ‘work-out’, you are pushing yourself much too
hard. I can see why you didn’t send them to me. Do you have a
trainer? Who is pushing you this hard? It’s too much really. When
are you coming home? What do you do to protect your hands from
the rope? Slow down baby and enjoy yourself more. I’m going to
look online for something for your hands. Give me a call, okay honey.
    Maybe this evening.
    Love,
    Mom

    Power cleans (185lbs)
    Muscle ups
    68 reps
(you must get at least 10 reps of each exercise)

Did some sort of jacked up Elizabeth after:

Tried 135# after running and almost killed myself

Just going to post this again since I posted it pretty late last night…
If anyone has some free time tonight (yes, I know it is Friday) I would REALLY appreciate some help moving. I am moving from Tech to a place just off Howell Mill by the interstate…I would take like 3-4 trips with Vas’ car and last year it was pretty tough with only 2 sets of hands. If anyone has a car with some space and some time I would really really appreciate it, and buy you a drink afterwards :)
I will start moving by 7:30 pm, (I get off from the gym at 7). I should have most of my stuff packed by then. Please email me if you can help… mpoukalova@gatech.edu (Roy wouldn’t want me putting my phone # here).

    Two part question.
    Where are you moving to?
Is it just natural progression for us to all move closer to the gym?

Haha, actually I am moving closer to work because I won’t be going to school over the summer. Work happens to be close to the gym…which is a good thing.
I’ll be on Ridgeway off of Howell Mill.

    Yesterday:
NorCal workout against Dr. Power Clean. I did 33 muscle ups and 34 Power cleans, 67 total reps. Yes, I lost, but doing even numbers was the “mans” way to do the WOD according to myself. We both beat Pat Barber, which was cool.
    Today:
    Modified Tabata.
Chest to bar pullups – 67
Pushups on dumbells (hands) and plate (feet) to floor – 74
    anchored situps – 90
    45# OHS – 85
    Total: 316
The CTB pullups and increased range of motion pushup combo was DEADLY. I barely made it, which was cool. My situp numbers actually increased after the first round and I caught my breath. 45# OHS was not fun either.
    Tonight:
New Orleans to drown my sorrows and talk to everyone on the street about how I tied for 7th place at the qualifiers. I am sure I will have a huge audience – in a slurred voice – “Hey, where are you going, I was so close…wait up…listen what happened to me on deadlifts…..”

So I walked in the door in flip flops this morning to a 3-2-1-Go! And I did. No warm-up. Not really recommended, but I didn’t die.
    Pullups – 57
    Pushups – 84
    Situps – 82 (Not anchored like a man :) )
    Squats – 136
    Total – 359
Pushups were down, might have something to do with the 150 ring dips the last two days. Squats were down as well, those might have been affected by the 105 SDLHP’s and 45 Cleans the last two days.
    Those are my excuses anyway.

Yesterday’s WOD: 65lbs on the squat cleans and unassisted dips. Took me approximately 27 minutes, but I am very glad I did the dips without assistance.
Today’s WOD: 251. My pullups and pushups were pretty weak, but I came back fairly strong on situps and squats. I attribute my weakness to the fact that I have been going much heavier and harder on the o-lifting stuff, and my upper body is pretty shot at this point. Excuses, excuses.
In other news, I am looking ROUGH. The most recent “injuries,” albeit superficial, are my torn fingers. These are from the 19 CTB pullups I did Wednesday. Now I wear so much tape on my fingers, I look like Michael Jackson. You know I’m bad. Also, my legs are bruised and scraped everywhere. Quads are bruised from o-lifts and my knees and shins look like someone took a bat to them. The latest bruises are on my clavicles from last night’s cleans. I look like I have been beaten. Good news is, I flexed my quad in the elevator, and I could see the muscle through my jeans!! This is an improvement. Yeah, that’s right, I flex in the mirror now…you know you do it too.

I was doing crappy until I pooped. Then, fittingly, I was doing much less crappy. But the score was still shitty.

I did a crossfit workout in front of my parents. They told me not to go so hard. Then I got my mom into crossfit. Now only my dad ocassionally says not to lift heavy; mom completely understands.

I thought we were gonna buy a compound and all move into that? Has something changed? I thought that was the plan.

Nice! That would set in stone the whole cult image. Now we just all need white tennis shoes and some killer kool-aid…Guess for us that would mean matching CF t-shirts and chuck taylors! LOL

I got invited to this awesome thing at CF Peachtree called “Beer Friday” which involves, oddly enough, doing the workout and then immediately sitting around and drinking beer. I highly recommend it.
I did Tabata with CTB pull ups. I didn’t get my totals per round but my overall total was 336.
Bodyweight excercises are a well known weakness of mine, I am probably going to start throwing in a tabata push up or pull up set at the end of every workout to work on them.
I believe I told everyone about this via facebook, but Ryan and I are having a party tomorrow night at our place to celebrate the end of the Dirty South qualifiers and Ryan running his last marathon for a long time. If you didn’t get the invite, my apologies, you are invited anyway. If you need details check out the event on facebook or email me at horowitz(dot)jonathan(at)gmail(dot)com. Bring your a-game and your party hat.

    Tabata something else…
    CTB

Chest to bar pull ups suck and I took a major hit on pull ups and push ups score wise because of them. But it was definitely good practice and I will continue doing them as much as I can. I need to get better at them.
