CrossFit ATL 3997 Georgia Tech's #3 team in sartorial splendor at the Panama City Beach 7's Rugby Tournament.  The #1 team finished 2nd overall in the tournament.

Workout of the Day

Deadlift

2-2-2-2-2-2-2

Erin & Derek & Jaxson are moving to Alexandria, VA.  We will miss them!

The shoe industry reacts to the movement toward minimal shoes and barefoot running.  Of course legions of experts stand ready to testify that running in anything less than a $150 motion control shoe is just not natural.

Hi all…I finally signed up for a typepad acct…given that we’re leaving I wanted to share few thoughts.
I’ll be around through September so if you want to punch me in the face after reading this remember that its supposed to be funny and then reconsider.
Margaret – if you find the cure to being tall and skinny, let me know.
MikeG – always wanted to ask if you were on roids? its the only plausible explanation for what you do.
    Bethanie – see a psychologist.
Brent – too strong…stop trying to be skinny…its not cool.
Heidi – Robb Wolf is not God.
Peter – Large oaf of a man that works really hard and makes me upset when you beat me.
Steve – Sweats more any other human I’ve ever seen.
Ken – see Mike’s question, but add hgh. if the answer is no, then are you are a cyborg?
Kulsoom – i kept waiting for you to yell at ian but it never happened.
Ian – what happened to those 2 really really huge people you used to train at the old box?
Laura – thanks for watching Jax so Erin can workout.
Mike & Lauren – couple that crossfits…good stuff.
Jonathan – Rob told me he let you win occasionally bc he was concerned about your self confidence.
Rob – Jonathan said you would be good if you were mentally tough.
Marie – I like that you’re mean to people.
Stowe – where did you disappear to?
Queen – Someone told me you were a doushe so I never talked to you, but then someone later told me that wasnt true, so i wish I talked to you more.
Vas – you know that song du hast? every time I see you I say ‘du vas’ in my head. also, if I want to round my back to get a PR on my deadlift, then just let me be and encourage me to pick up the weight.
    Dan – Can I have a beer?
Ok, in all seriousness – I mention you people bc I won’t forget you. Sorry to anyone that I forgot… Hope to see you all before we depart.
Oh, I forgot Outlaw…but I’ll probably see him soon anyways.

    Derek,
Some funny stuff here. Let me know when you find a gym out in Alexandria. I’ll try and get down to hit a WOD with you guys soon. And by the way, I think we drank all of the beers the week before last.
And I guess I have to write one of these “see you guys, miss you guys” posts one day too. But alas, classes begin today. Will get on it soon tho.

Interesting article on barefoot running, FiveFingers and similar shoes from Saturday’s New York Times.
Anyone interested in something other than the deadlifts today? Thinking maybe Helen or Fran?

Great article Jeff. Much better than the one Dan posted above in his blog entry. : )
I’m down for Fran. Haven’t done it for months.

Derek – nice work. That had me laughing for a while….A few in particular. Mike keeps trying to sell me his roids, but I told him I am not interested. He mixes them with ice cream. Good luck out there!

Tried for under 15, but my form on snatch caught up with me towards the end.

Re: Dan’s post on shoes. While I’m not quite ready to buy a pair of Five Fingers, I did switch out my running shoes this year. I had been both training and racing in Nike Air Pegasus for the last umpteen years, buying a couple of new pair every year (the Pegasus is a pretty heavy trainer). After getting all POSE-inspired, this summer I switched to a lighter racer/trainer for training and a pair of racing flats for racing. So far, so good — no injuries or problems yet.

I just have to say, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you freaking idiots did Fran today, a rest day, and our workout tomorrow is rowing Fran. HI-larious. Don’t puss out on us!!! You tried to draw me in to that nonesense, but I was having none of it and took my rest day like a good girl.

LOL! First thing I thought of when I saw tomorrow’s WOD.

I’m still half-way convinced that Dan gets on a conference call with Glassman on rest days. I’m picturing the conversation to be something like this:
Eva T: the guys at my gym did rowing intervals on their rest day.
Dan M: at CFATL, a bunch of people did Fran
Glassman: (cackling demonically) Rowing-Fran it is for tomorrow! Unknown and unknowable! Bwahahaha!
Think about our last couple of “rest” days and tell me it couldn’t happen just like that.

My plan was to rest, as today was six in a row. Alas, I can’t have you calling me out like that. See you tomorrow.

Jeffy, the description of your workout regime has “injury” written all over it. Take it easy. You should consider the possibility that you might not be a pussy for not doing this workout, you might just be making a smart decision.
