Congrats Kulsoom. Keep up the momentum.
Today’s workout was very difficult for me. I’m not going to use the fact that I’m new as an excuse. I’m going to use it as a motivator. I’m weak. My ancillary muscles and flexibility (or lack thereof) is where my weakness lies. I’m going to go out on a limb and say I’m probably one of the least flexible guys in the gym. I’ve never experienced workouts like this. I’ve played soccer most of my life and even the professional trainers never put us through anything like this. The amount of weight I’m able to trust is pretty light. I don’t have problems thrusting the weight overhead from a squat, my problems lie in my ability to support the weight on my collar bone with high elbows and bent wrists (if that makes sense). I also struggle holding a solid squat while keeping the bar in the correct position. My thrusters get better with each round, but it all needs improving. My muscle ups are non-existent. I’m unable to pull myself up from a negative grip violently through the rings. I am however able to lift myself up in an “assisted” muscle up and support my weight as if I am preparing for a triceps dip. I’m working muscles I didn’t know existed. I know they exist now b/c they are very sore, but I’m going to keep coming back, exposing my weaknesses, working them until they are strengths and keep enjoying the 6am pain that gets me going each day.
I don’t know/remember everyone’s name and the ones I do know I don’t know the people very well, but I see you around and pay close attention to you so I can turn my weaknesses into strength and be on your level one day soon – inspiration so-to-speak (Leo, Chris, Brent, Johnny F, Blaine, Hedi (sad to see you go), Leah P, and of course Dan, Mike K, Mike G, & Bethanie who always keep me honest and give me great tips. Ladies, I’m not ogling you, well maybe a little, it’s more of a stare and compare. :>
See you all dark and early.

keep up the hard work Andy. You are already breaking through a lot of the flexibility limitations. Check out Pavel’s book “relax into stretch”, I will set it out on the sign in desk for you, with a little time and patience you can dramatically increase your flexibility by waiting out your muscles stretch reflexes. try a five minute stretch break at work every hour or two. As for the Ogling. . . deny deny deny

Thanks all. Vas for the spotting and words of encouragement between each round before I attempted the Bench Press rep. Everyone at the end who yelled when I decided to go for the pull-ups till my grip faltered.
Yes, next time I will go for 24 pull-ups in each round, and possibly more than 1 rep on each bench press set. Then I will have the #1 spot for sure.

Hey Andy! Keep on working and you’ll get there soon enough.. Sounds like you’re already making huge gains for as new as you are.
