CrossFit ATL 4581
George conducts post workout seance

Workout of the Day

For Time:

500 Wall Balls 20/14 to a 12' target

Just kidding. April Fool!  Come in and let the trainer surprise you with one of their delicious creations!
BTW, we know of an Olympic team breast stroker at the Arden Hills swim club who actually loves this
workout.  Don't try it if you want to be able to walk this weekend.

Woo Hoo.  Check this video out.

On April 13 from
5 PM to 8 PM we will have on site a mobile hydrostatic body fat testing
service from Body Fat Test, Inc. Hydrostatic testing is by far the most
accurate and reliable method of measuring body volume and body fat.
Until now this method was available mainly at universities at an average
price of over $150.  You will need to bring a swimsuit and a towel.
Eating within 1 hour of the test may affect results as much as 1% but no
more.  Working out and drinking water before the test will not affect
results.  The water is heated, chemically treated, and filtered.  You
will need to totally submerge for about 5 seconds.  A trained technician
will be with you every second.  You will have a private dressing room,
and privacy and confidentiality during the entire test, which takes
about 10 minutes.  Bring your friends if you wish.

After the test you will get a 4 page print
out showing where you are, thus establishing a realistic baseline to
establish fitness goals and measure progress.  Pricing is $25 for
members, $45 for non members.  You must prepay by check or cash by
signing up at the desk in the gym.  Tests can be run 12 minutes apart,
so reserve your test time on the sign up sheet.  A sample test report is
available for inspection.

The male booty cam strikes again. Justice is ours, ladies. How does it feel to be objectified, Kurt and Dan?

  • Bethanie

Sat. April 10: Brunch at UrbanPl8 at 1pm. RSVP on the white board at the gym so Betsy can save us enough tables.
Friday April 16: Fun team workouts in the evening followed by a bbq and drinking.
Paleo-ers: make sure you post all of your “after” metrics and pics. Include a testimonial: generally answering the question “how do you look, feel, perform?” (in comparison to before). Email me who you vote for by Monday!

Anybody ever do the tank test? Thoughts on it…worth the time and money? I mean, I know I’m fat…really don’t need another machine to look at me and say, “one at a time please..” but did you get valuable/usable feedback from it.

  • Danya Levine

I have done the Fat test and Adam you are not wrong. While the test may be valuable to the fitter crowd — if you are a chubbie like me– it is more of a detriment to your self esteem. Machinery telling you what you already know- jsut leads to crying and boxes of girl scout cookies .
    — oh and I LOVE that video clip!!!

  • Andy L

    That vid was awesome.
I’m in for the “get tanked.” I’ll come up and sign up today. Three of my non-xfit friends are in as well.
Bethanie, is it okay to vote for ourselves?

Thanks for helping us out for the last few months. It was great to see you workout yesterday. It has been a while. I wish you the best in VA Beach. I know you will have a great time out there. We will miss you. Make sure you stop on the blog from time to time to check up on us.

  • Krista Valenzuela

    Hey Bethanie,
Is there a deadline for when people have to post their results? I know we’re supposed to email our votes to you by Monday, but I don’t want to vote until everyone who is planning on posting results does.
Oh, and I’m definitely planning on doing the BF test. I like numbers even if they won’t really mean anything to me.

  • Jonathan H CFATL

One important metric that these tests provide that you cannot otherwise measure is a measure of lean body mass. Many of you newer people may not be achieving weight loss at a rate you expected, even though you look, feel, and perform better. This is because as you lose the fat, you pack on muscle (especially if you are doing strength work).
I’m sure there are plans to do this again in a few months, which will make this the easiest way to track your improvement if improved body composition is one of your goals (To look good naked).

  • Jonathan H CFATL

Don’t look at the number as something you should fear or be upset by. If anything, look at it as a challenge, like everything else in CrossFit. Keep working hard like you have been, eating well, and the numbers will take care of themselves.

    Hey everybody,
For anybody who’s up to helping me out tomorrow, I’ll need help starting probably around 9am. My address is 2123 Arbor Gates Drive, 30324. It’s off Lenox/Sydney Marcus/Buford Hwy where 400 meets 85. You’ll need to park on the street outside my complex (it’s a very short walk to my apartment from there). If you have a preferred beverage, lemme know and I’ll have it here.

  • Danya Levine

Hey Jonathan. My motto is everybody looks good naked when the lights are OFF.

  • Adrian Mejia

Hey Peter, I will start helping as early as you need. How can I get in contact with you when I get to your complex?

  • Adrian Mejia

Is that fat testing thing only for that one day or will it be available the next day?

  • peterbassi

My phone number is 757-270-1486. Just gimme a call.

  • Bethanie

You were supposed to have them posted by Friday…vote by Monday.

  • Bethanie

    just the one day.
