After all those ring dips yesterday and today, i’m having trouble lifting the coffee cup to my mouth. Should be an interesting day..

Heidi, I feel you. My shoulders are destroyed, but that’s a common theme here, isn’t it? I am vascilating between trying Elizabeth with no assistance on the ring dips, or an entirely different workout since the hematoma on my knee can’t take any more pressure from the band. I do need to address my leg weakness, so maybe I should squat..thoughts?
Made up the snatch workout yesterday, and did 19 of the 45 pullups chest to bar. Pretty happy about that. It took me 27 minutes, but I am getting stronger. Thanks to Ian for all the pointers on form. Also, thanks to Bethanie for making snatch jokes whilst I was working out.
Is anyone planning on doing the affiliate challenge at BTB next Saturday (not this weekend but next)? I know some of you want more competition, and this could be another opportunity. I am giving it some thought.

I hope they give me some running/endurance oriented workout so I can kick your effing ass for that comment. I responded via facebook.

In keeping with the theme this week of tackling our weak points I am glad that this WOD came up. I really need to improve my cleans and dips. Also, yesterday I tackled my fear of double unders and had Mike G teach me how to do them. I only squeeked out one at a time, but I will jump rope in my warm up in lieu of rowing until I am more accomplished. So, if you see me heading for the rower in my warm up you have permission to beat me about the head with the jump rope until I learn my lesson.

I hate you all! FYI the green timer is broken! I put it in the trash can, took it out, then forgot to put it back in…so, trainers this pm: do not use the green watch!!
BMW: you are going to hell.

Good job Heidi. I figured I would be getting off the board. I hope I can try again and be more efficient if I at least do not make it back on the board again (unlike the Nancy WOD).

Thanks Kulsoom, if I could figure out how to kick up with the ring dips, I’d be much better off. :)

Brent = bad ass. I did this yesterday with a 7:06, a minute slower than my PR, 6:12. Not one of my best performances, but it happens. Squat cleans are also on my “I need to improve” list…Gonna have to give my legs a break today, they are dead from this past weekend plus Elizabeth yesterday…

Cleans are from the ground up to chest level correct? Does each one need to start from the gound?

    Yup
And since these are squat cleans, your hip has to lower below the knees

Fashion newsflash: my hot pink chuck taylor’s just arrived and they are AWESOME. I am wearing them around the office. Zappos really is the most amazing thing. I ordered them at 6:30 last night with free standard shipping, got upgraded to faster shipping and they arrived just now. How do they do that?? Instant gratification is the best. You all can look forward to seeing these bad boys tonight.

See you tonight, kba, and you can inspire me to do all of the dips unassisted no matter how long it takes, okay?

Another chance to qualify for the games!
For anyone who missed their Regional, are overseas, or just barely missed qualifying at their regional, there will be one last chance to qualify for the Games.
At some point near the end of May, a workout format will be announced. You will have two days to complete the workouts under strict guidelines that will be clearly established at the time of the announcement. You must time and film your efforts also under strict guidelines that will be clearly established.
Make sure you know how to capture and submit the video (or connect with someone who does). No late entries will be accepted. The CrossFit HQ staff will judge the video and determine the legitimacy of the time.
The number of spots available for men and women will depend on a number of factors, and will be announced later.
There is nothing to do now. This is only an announcement that the opportunity will be there. More information to follow over the coming weeks.

I won’t be in tonight (rest day for me and errands). You can do it and this is a good workout for it because its 45 reps not 100-200. Post what happens on the blog.

My mom just saw my photos from this weekend. And here’s the unedited email I got back in response:
    Hi Matthew,
Dad sent me your Crossfit photos. They are now on my email/computer.
Honey this is not exactly a ‘work-out’, you are pushing yourself much too
hard. I can see why you didn’t send them to me. Do you have a
trainer? Who is pushing you this hard? It’s too much really. When
are you coming home? What do you do to protect your hands from
the rope? Slow down baby and enjoy yourself more. I’m going to
look online for something for your hands. Give me a call, okay honey.
    Maybe this evening.
    Love,
    Mom

That sounds like something my parents would right, but they would be more along the lines of
“Marie, why the hell are you lifting such heavy weight? You know you won’t be able to have a baby if you lift such heavy weight. You either stop pushing yourself so hard or we won’t pay for school.”
That’s why I just don’t talk about Crossfit with them anymore…unless I talk about running or gymnastics. I know how you feel Matt…and then some.

I still hate ring dips, but I have to admit I am getting better at them. I only had to go to singles on the last three on the first set… which is quite an achievement for me.
As for qualifying for the games via video…I am pretty stoked about that actually. I am just upset that I haven’t been training strict recently and that I am leaving for 2 weeks on Monday. But it will definitely motivate me to train with limited equipment down in Florida…I would really love to get to the games (even though my untrained ass would be kicked there). As long as they don’t put freaking ring dips in the qualifying WOD…grr.

Elizabeth was rough but totally needed and welcomed. It was my first time doing squat cleans and my ring dips are @#$%. I finished in 17 something but I’m certain I could have shaved a few minutes off had I kipped through the ring dips. I forgot to kip until the last 4 or 5.
I, unfortunately, do not own a pair of hot pink shoes.

Oh yea… I forgot to mention.
If anyone has some free time tomorrow evening (yes, I know it is Friday) I would REALLY appreciate some help moving. I am moving from Tech to a place just off Howell Mill by the interstate…I would take like 3-4 trips with Vas’ car and last year it was pretty tough with only 2 sets of hands. If anyone has a car with some space and some time I would really really appreciate it, and buy you a drink afterwards :)
I will start moving by 7:30 pm, (I get off from the gym at 7). I should have most of my stuff packed by then. Please email me if you can help… mpoukalova@gatech.edu (Roy wouldn’t want me putting my phone # here).
