CrossFit ATL 3746 Margaret on deadlift day

Workout of the Day

"DT"

Five rounds for time of:
155 pound Deadlift, 12 reps
155 pound Hang power clean, 9 reps
155 pound Push jerk, 6 reps

Scale loads as needed.  Post time to comments.

    It’s almost here! The summer birthdays celebration is Friday at Steamhouse Lounge on the corner of 11th and West Peachtree, and the hung over summer birthdays WOD is Saturday morning (late morning) at the gym.

    I think girls weights are generally about 2/3 of the guy’s weights, so 110 lbs (50kg)?

    Checked out Crossfit Kirkwood (St. Louis suburb) yesterday after work… did this:
    “Grand Canyon Mule”

    Seems as though CF is really catching on here. The gym I went to has been open about 6 months, and it looks like they’re doing well! Can’t wait to get back to ATL though…

    And then I died laughing when I saw that the women’s weight is 105. 52 kilos?? Right. Like I have ever cleaned that, let alone a hang clean. Now I am crying. More humiliation for me today.

    Dear Leah:
    Just wanted to let you know that your knocking me off the top spot on Michael did not go un-noticed. And that, although you waived at me during Filthy 50 the other day, and I did not waive back, one thing does not have anything to do with the other. You are a very nice, very fit lady and I am trying very hard to be proud of you. Just ignore my temporary crisis of confidence.

    I hope all of you summer birthday people are thinking long and hard about your contribution to the Hung Over Summer Birthday Chipper WOD.
    personally, I am thinking 30 minute nap for my event. I have been overhearing chatter about thrusters and hand stand push ups. Let’s hope that those are from the younger celebrants and not from any of of the 30+ or 40+ birthdays

    Because I won’t be there and b/c I have a bday in August, & b/c CrossFit is where thrusters meet snatches, y’all can all do 61 thrusters & 61 snatches in my honor.

    August 15 bday.
    25 double unders isn’t enough… I’m still thinking 25 thrusters. I’m negotiable on the weight, but I’m leaning toward bodyweight thrusters.

    Please try to remember there will be 10+ people thinking up exercises. So don’t make it TOO ridiculous.
    Also…i think more than 1 person is thinking thrusters. So have a backup.

    Bodyweight thrusters. Are you serious?! Isn’t this WOD supposed to be fun? Oh wait, you mean “air-thrusters”, right? Yeah, that’s it. Fine.

    Run — 3.6 mi, 29:15
    Am still too sore from deadlifts on Tuesday to tackle DT tonight. I think I pulled muscle or got a slight tear. It isn’t the generalized lower back pain I sometimes get from bad-form DLs, but a sharp pain around the right oblique, almost on my side. Anyway, whatever it is, I’m laying off of it.

    Or, we could make the H.O.S.B. chipper even more unknown and unknowable by just having everyone write their exercise on a slip of paper, then let the birthday people draw randomly to determine the exercise/reps for each event in the chipper. I’m picturing something like:
    29 thrusters
    30 muscle-ups
    43 thrusters
    25 thrusters

    Officially out of shape. Did this with 95 lbs and got blasted. 16:28. BUT I am seriously back into the programme now. No more excuses.

    BUT on the last 2 rounds I used a 15kg bar for the push jerks.. because I usually ended up having the bar too far forward, and most of the time the reps were a cross between a push press and a partial shoulder press. I definitely need to work on dropping under the bar, and I could always work on cleans.

    Because of Fran yesterday, I lost another callus today, one not even two weeks old. That makes six since I’ve been here…awesome 🙁

    Thanks, guys. I appreciate the community support. Yesterday I left my positive attitude at home, and I just needed to dig it out and knock off the pity-party. Done. The 10k helped.
