I’ll probably post this again tomorrow because it is a great interview. The interview is with Mark Sisson from MarksDailyApple.com. He is being interviewed by Rivendell Bicycle Works.
When asked how/why Mark got out of LSD training, he mentioned this…
“Many of the best endurance athletes from the 80s have had severe heart problems. Ryan Shay died last year; Alberto Salazar almost died from his heart attack at 48; 2:14 marathoner Brian Maxwell of Powerbar fame did die at 53; top ranked multi-sport athletes Greg Welch, Maddy Tormoen, and Emmy Carney all had defibrillators or pacemakers installed while they were still in their 30s. RAAM racer and Spinning inventor Johnny G has a pacemaker. Yet the general public hasn’t made the connection that too much of this good thing can be bad. The media still promotes it and encourages people to push their limits, run marathons, and so on.”
The full interview is in this PDF. It starts on page 26.

Thanks BMW. And I was just thinking “what a day for a run.” Strength workouts make me antsy, but this was a good reminder about the ultimate goal. I am going for a drink tonight and then maybe I’ll be able to met-con my as5 off tomorrow with a Filthy Fifty or Michael.

No problem. Good job on your C&J this morning. You made improvements. Just need to keep working on that technique and you’ll be a pro soon enough.

thanks, the encouragement means a lot. it’s all in the form. the other night, I couldn’t deadlift my previous PR until Mike told me to use my legs. you would have thought that obvious, but evidently not.

    Clean and Jerk:
    72kg PR
Matched my clean PR so I am happy. The clean this time was a lot easier and I got out of it a lot quicker. Need to stop dipping forward on my jerk.
Did Grace afterward but my time makes me thing I must have miscounted. Until I can reproduce the time I am not counting it. All those heavy clean and jerks must have screwed up my ability to count up haha.

I have decided that I will be going to the qualifiers. One of my finals on that Monday is one you cant study for and the other one I can study the week before. So now I have 6 weeks to be really nervous about how I will do.
Also- after thinking about it for about 3 hours I must have done all those reps on Grace because I remember my sets and I never stopped. I guess its just a crazy PR …even crazier than my 1.5 minutes off of Fran back in Dec. Woohoo!
