    To say that I am bummed that I didn’t get to see the games would be an understatement. It has been amazing to see all the photos and read all the reports. So proud of our people. I am torn, because while I miss my dogs and my workouts, I am also seeing some of the most beautiful places on earth. Yesterday we took a 5 hour hike through the desert at 10,000 feet, and because of all the volcanic activity, there is a warm river that runs through a gorge. This means that in the middle of the desert, there’s a strip of land with beautiful green vegetation and various species of birds, etc. It goes on for miles, as rivers do, and ends in a place where you can swim in the hot springs. Amazing. Today we go bike riding in the salt flats. Tomrorow is horseback riding, and Thursday is climbing a volcano, up to approximately 14,000 feet.
    Before the bike ride today, I plan on 21-15-9 of pushups, sit ups and squats, just to get myself back into it a bit. See you guys Sunday.

    Ran 5k yesterday. Really, really wish I had a stop watch. I know I had a huge PR. I was running so fast that in the last half mile I got goosebumps for some reason. I’ve never gotten that in a Georgia summer, especially while running. I collapsed at the finish line and couldn’t help but let loose an exhausted F bomb. I forgot that the park wasn’t crossfit. A mother with two kids gave me a dirty look while I writhed in pain on the ground.

    OK, so we are a little behind in organizing this and therefore have pushed it back a weekend. Personally, I blame sheer disorganization but at my age it could be a myriad of diagnosable geriatric maladies.
    “What is this?” you ask. And I say “Speak up I can’t hear you. Damn kids always mumbling”
    It’s a birthday party to celebrate our summer birthdays, followed by a hung over WOD at CrossFit Atlanta. Feel free to join for one, or both events. (Let us know if you have a summer birthday and we will include you in the festivities, too). Details are a little sketchy at this point, but pencil us in for next Friday night (July 24th) out and Saturday morning (late morning) work out.
    Friday: I’m thinking mid-town. Maybe start upstairs at Steam House (after the early-bird dinner special at Shoney’s) and head out to dance at any one of the many places we have previously disgraced with our poor behavior. Cosmo-Lava, Flip-Flops, Front Page News, etc.
    Saturday: Hung-Over Birthday WOD- Mike G (old balls) and I have talked about each picking a couple of events and alternating 29 reps of his picks with 30 reps of my picks.
    Another thought, if there will be additional summer birthdays involved, is to do a chipper WOD (similar to filthy 50) and each birthday celebrant picks their favorite exercise and we do their age as the number of reps of that exercise. So, respond back if you have a summer birthday and would like to get involved with the WOD.
    Respond to the event post if you will be there, if you have a summer birthday, or if you can help me remember where I left my Metamucil.

    Sounds like a good time. Hungover Crossfit just might be the worst thing in the world, so I’m definitely in.
