Triple-ExtensionTriple Extension,  Annie Sakamoto at the original CrossFit in Santa Cruz, CA.  Photo courtesy of crossfit.com

"When the arms bend, the power ends."  In the clean and the snatch, the hips, knees and ankles must fully extend before the arms bend.  Dramatic loss of power is only one of the many bad consequences of pulling with the arms.  Practice being in and hitting the triple extension position.  Hold it as a pose. Hit the position over and over in stick practice until it is second nature.

Workout of the Day

Set a cone at 20 meters. Five rounds for time of:
185 pound barbell Overhead walk, 40 meters
30 Wallball shots, 20 pound ball
95 pound barbells Farmer carry, 40 meters

The barbells must be turned around the cone.

In today's weird science news, researchers in the area of urban planning have discovered that high Body Mass Index is correlated to the proximity of convenience stores and restaurants!   Of course, the study concludes that more research is needed.   But correlation is not causation (Lots of sick people in the hospital, etc.)  Among the possibilities: does the free market result in restaurants and convenience stores locating themselves near their biggest customers, or vice versa, or does living near them make people fat?

I love it when I am doing cleans and Dan just points at this picture, as if I think that pulling early is the right thing to do…love you, Dan…if you can dish it, you have to take it. Those are the rules.

I think pulling early has to do with the ratio of your arm length vs.chest size.. This chick has short stubby arms and virtually no boobs- of course this is easy or her—that’s my story and I’m stickin to it !
P.S. Of course I will spend tomorrow morning with Brent trying to make the impossible happen.. or what I like to call “Racking my Rack”.
