CrossFit ATL 3112 Outdoor workouts with wheelbarrows, tires, and dumbbells were the main fare on Memorial Day.

Five rounds, each for time of:
20 Pull-ups
30 Push-ups
40 Sit-ups
50 Squats

Rest precisely three minutes between each round.

    “The workout commemorates the birth of twin sons to CrossFit founders”
    I lived yesterday’s pic of the aftermath of the twins. My guess is that it commemorates the labor pains of giving birth to the twins and she must not have had an epidural at the time. That WOD was killer.

    Can someone explain to me the logic in this. I am reading an article here: http://health.msn.com/nutrition/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100238655&page=2
    It starts talking about some hormone (leptin) and says that “Fattening foods generally contain hydrogenated vegetable oils (trans fats) and rapidly digested carbohydrates, such as refined grains, sugars, and starches.
    ‘You eat more of these foods because they cause leptin resistance, and then your body can’t tell when it’s full,’ says Dr. Aronne.”
    Right below this the article points out in bullets
    “Fattening: High-fat dairy and meat
    Filling: Lean meat and low-fat dairy
    Reason: Protein satiates, but fat can make you crave more calories.”
    Do they ever read what they write down?

    Hi! Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day. Returning from too much drink and too much food to Barbara was a cruel trick of fate. Also, the b!tch in the seat next to me on the plane to San Francisco successfully transmitted her disease to me, so now I have a cold. I think it should be socially acceptable to wear a face mask when flying. Barbara with a cold was not fun, but it’s over and I think I did pretty well..averaged just over 8 minutes per round. Ended at 42:06.

    Barbara is awful. Luckily I had Ken to chase so I PR’d by quite a bit.
    Here are my round times with the rest periods taken out:
    Barbara as RX’d (with CTB pullups):
    Round 1: 2:55
    Round 2: 4:15
    Round 3: 5:01
    Round 4: 5:12
    Round 5: 5:42
    Total: 23:05
    If you add in the 3 minute breaks, my overall time was 35:05

    37 something (including rests) as Rx. Brent, awesome work today, you, and that workout, crushed me. Couple of days off for me to prepare for the last chance qualifier…

    Ken…You did the pushups on the dumbbells and plate. I think if you take that out you would have beaten me.

    That whole section on leptins could really confuse people. I think the author lost the point they were trying to make.
    All in all the article isn’t that bad. Too much emphasis on beans and whole wheat though. But if those are the worst part of someone’s diet, they are doing pretty good. Better than eating at McDonald’s or Wendy’s.

    Just got back from working in Boston all weekend for the Lacrosse national championship. I’m usually really lazy and eat/drink more than I should when I’m traveling, but I tried to get one of those right this time…
    Hotel gym: size of a dorm room w/ two treadmills and some dumbells
    5/22/09 Friday
    5 rounds
    21-14-7 (situps, squats, HSPUs)
    12:48
    (no negatives at all but nose didn’t quite touch)
    5/23/09 Saturday
    Max reps then rest 3-5min
    (Rx pullups, push ups, situps, squats)
    Hotel gym compromise:
    Bicep curls (25lb) x24 (each arm)
    Push ups x36
    Sit ups x73 (legs braced)
    Squats x51
    5/24/09 Sunday (in Boston)
    Cfit warmup
    Ran 2+ mi (+ cooldown = 3mi total)
    (LOTS of ankle, foot, calf, etc…pain)
    Not the greatest results but I was happy to try something after long days of workin outside. Ready to get back to the gym.

    Ken, I have a great “blue steel” photo of you from the affiliate challenge. It’s you and bunch of other dudes, and you are giving the cameraman the EYE!!! I sent it to Dan, but sadly, it has yet to make an appearance on our site.

    Holy crap that one hurt. First 2 rounds were good. Last 3? Not so much. I was just happy to finish it in under 50.

    Barbara as Rx’d 31:21 if my math is correct.
    Started 4 min behind the clock. First round complete at 7:17. Last round complete at 54:38. Total time under clock before subtracting 12 min for rests and 4 min for delayed start is 47:21. 47:21 – 16:00 = 31:21.

    40kg PC and 24″ (or 20″) BJ
    11:30 something
    I would have had a better time if I did not do extra power cleans due to counting to the wrong number and did not hit my shin on the box before the last 2 reps.

    I did Barbara today after going to happy hour. I made it through 4 rounds and had to stop due to feeling like crap. Not recommended.
