GT rugby participated in the annual Mini 500, a traditional part of Homecoming festivities at the North Avenue Institute. The team consisted of: Spermwhale, Zac, JJ-the-Flash, Beanz, Mitch, McFetus, Mike G, Manny, Ross, 3-step, and Alvin the Chipmunk. The team spent countless of hours designing, building, testing, and perfecting their Mini 500 trike. In the race they started out strong, with one of the fastest riders, JJ-the-flash leading off. Unfortunately, about 2 feet from the start line, JJ-the-Flash got into a catastrophic wreck which caused damage to the front stabilizers, which were dislodged from their connectigazoinks. The pit crew used their hard earned engineering knowledge to bend the front wheels back into place, and continued the race. Things were going great, and they clawed their way back into the lead, but on the last and final lap, JJ-the-Flash inexplicably crashed causing irreparable damage to the tricyle. The crowd began a slow clap as JJ-the-Flash fought bravely to remedy the damage done to both body and trike, and as he slowly rose up, bearing the weight of the team's hard work on his shoulders, other members of the team fought through the roaring crowd to lend help. Together, they held the trike high and jogged to the finish line in 1st place chanting:
"Nuff people say they know they can't believe, Jamaica we have a bobsled team"
Afterwards, the team attributed their success to all the hard work on fitness they have done at CrossFit Atlanta.
