Reminder that we are closed this Saturday because we will all be doing fight gone bad at the marine base (see link on right).
There will be a group meeting at the gym at 10:30 to carpool. Our “Team Color” is the lululemon color “alarming”: http://shop.lululemon.com/store/productslist.aspx?parentcolorid=2&categoryid=6&sbcf=women
(women)There is also men’s stuff and if you raise $50 for FGB you get 15% off at the buckhead store! We will all be wearing this orange color so don’t be left out!
We are doing great so please keep up the good work!

great job to everyone who came in today and expanded the limits of their experience by trying new things on the rings today! There was not a single athlete today that did not improve their awareness being inverted, test the limits of their core and shoulder strength, and find out exactly where and how the lats attach to the body! Great work today AM crew, lots of fun!

Many of you have been asking about “paleo snacks”, here is a link from mark’s daily apple that breaks ideas up into non-prep and prep. keep in mind that 1) you should be eating more veggies than fruit in your day and 2) although preparing meals make take some additional time at first, you can enjoy the leftovers for a few days…

Soooo…whats the guys equivalent to “alarming”, not that I won’t rock out a skin tight tank top but just in case…the website doesn’t show anything for dudes in that super awesome color 🙂

What is all this “Paleo” talk that I keep hearing?
Is it a form of diet?
Speaking of which, can anyone out there help me decide a good diet for weight loss and better general health?
Which diets are best to follow? Are there any that are 100% correct? Why or why not?

For those of you who eat processed meats, containing sodium nitrite and/or MSG:

Continuing the Paleo discussion, yesterday I received my copy of the recently published, The Paleo Solution, by Robb Wolf. It is excellent, funny, readable for those not interested in the science, and enough references in the back to satisfy your inner nutrition geek. Link to purchase is the right column under Books.
BTW Davie, per Robb, sprouts are BAD. Mmmkay.

Yes, per Robb eating a peanut is bad as well. And per Robb, eating pork fat is bad as well. And per Robb, a lot of things are bad that humans have been eating for a quarter of a million years. Like I always say, Paleo is a good diet, but 1) nobody in the paleolithic period ate the Paleo diet, 2) the Paleo diet is based on REALLY bad science in many cases, and 3) it automatically rules out entire classifications of foods based on speculation rather than fact.
So three cheers for the Paleo diet! But I’m still going to cook my eggs in lard, eat all the chicken skin, and enjoy pork sausage on Sunday afternoons. And I’m not trimming the fat off of my grass-fed beef roasts. You Paleo fat-trimmers can have all the fun you want doing that.

Ok, I actually have a real question.
Are obesogens real and should I worry about them? Dr. Oz says they are.
I’ll buy a hoodie if it’s cheap and NOT alarming.
Do we have alarming body paint? I think everyone at FGB5 will be upset if I wear a shirt while shredding.

That would be my diet. Look for my book “I’m Hungry, What Do I Feel Like Eating: A study in body knows best.”, coming out later this year.
Also note, my name is Rob, not to be confused with Robb.

    1. I’m a “depends on pricing/design” for a men’s medium hoodie — if the color scheme is “alarming orange”, not so much. Though if ordering a hoodie will make fall temperatures get here faster, I’m in.
    2. After many days this summer of “0” comments on the blog, now we are getting 30+ comments a day? What happened?

    just putting this out there:
I’ll eat anything you guys want in exchange for a free month in the gym… (anything for science)

    I’ll tell you what happened:
Somebody dared to call into question the writings of a man who fashioned a diet named after a particular period of human history, whilst ignoring the actual eating habits of people during said period.
When any programme claims to be “open-source” and then repeats unsubstantiated dogma, arguments always ensue. Hence, the comments.
