So…a crazy thing happened to me at work on Monday, which I forgot to mention. I’ll talk the ears off pretty much anyone who will listen to me rave about crossfit and that is not limited to co-workers. Everyone at work is aware of my mission for an unassisted pull up and they ask me almost daily if I have done it yet. So one of my co-workers drags this poor guy over to my cube Monday afternoon, who is outfitted in a huge cast. His name is Tom. Tom was forced to describe how he managed to break his arm, via a pull up gone wrong… As it turns out poor Tom broke his arm falling off the bar at our very own crossfit during the warm-up on Wednesday! Like any true convert I asked him in horror how long he will have to miss crossfit for (in lieu of saying more appropriate things like “Does it hurt”, or “I am so sorry”). Well Tom informed me that he planned on doing some serious leg workouts in the mean time as soon as the throbbing stopped. Tom is a bass ass. I am also thinking Tom is the reason we have a adopted the “new waiver”, or is that just a coincidence?

Tom, I was wondering the outcome of your arm. Sorry to hear that it is broken, but I love your resolve to keep pushing. Bethanie and Julie may have a long list of one-armed work outs for you as they have recently been in the same situation. I know just what will make you feel better, see below:
Bad Company & The Doobie Brothers are coming to Chastain Park on Friday June 19th! I had my administrative assistant (Bethanie) buy our lawn seats yesterday, so don’t wait until the last minute to get your tickets. Let us know when you get your tickets and we will figure out carpooling/cabs/stumbling home when we know how many people we have. Oh, and Bethanie, happy administrative assistant’s day.

Lindsay and Tom: You will soon discover that your friends and family may become concerned about this new cult you have joined and how much you are talking about it. Don’t listen to them. Keep pushing. Wear your battle wounds with pride. And, yes, ask Bethanie, a/k/a “Beefalo” about one armed workouts…I believe her profile picture on this blog is her doing a one armed barbell snatch. Totatlly, bad, ass.

Sorry to hear about that Tom. I was there when that happened and was also wondering what the result was. You had a trong kip going but unfortunately that fall was also significant. how about your head?

Cult is such a strong word. I prefer “social club”.

I ran a decent amount before i started Crossfit. It’s not very easy to keep up with the WOD’s at LA Fitness so I try to run as much as i can and then get some weights in as well.

    hmmm…
Laura, I’m not sure that me asking you if you want to come to the concert and telling you that I got you your ticket really constitutes you “having me get yours”. But yes, I’m your bitch always and forever…

Yeah, I did the same thing as Tom. It sucks and it is embarrassing to tell but he can still get stronger while his one arm is out! I know I did!

Tom, very sorry to hear that you actually did pull a Bethanie. Watch out for standing on kettlebells and doing high kicks in about 6 months (not that anyone would be that stupid).
I’m down for working out for cancer.
If anyone is looking for a Buddy Lee jump rope, hit up fitnessanywhere.com, they have them in stock. I’m only mentioning this because of the excellent customer service I got from them. After they botched shipping it out the other day, I called them today and they upgraded me to free overnight shipping so that I could have it before the qualifiers. That is good customer service.
