the challenge to this WOD is surviving after running 5K in the pollen.
We need one player for our Open Team for the qualifiers since we had one player defect.

I saw this video on the Santa Cruz Crossfit’s website the other day and thought you guys might enjoy. A four minute mashup of every exercise done in Crossfit, people moving some seriously heavy weights, and the fetish for doing handstands in weird places (set to a very loud punk/metal soundtrack — if you are at work, consider yourself warned). The opening shot is Greg Glassman lecturing at the National War College. I sent this link to a running buddy of mine who has been curious about Crossfit, unfortunately pretty much scared her off — too much Kool-Aid at once, I suppose.

    Monday:
Ran 1 1/2 miles on the treadmill then did
    Walking lunge 100 ft.
    21 Pull-ups
    21 Sit-ups
I did push ups instead of sit ups
    Tuesday:
Ran 2 miles on treadmill then did
    5 Rounds 95# OHS X 15
Took a 2 minute rest inbetween
Not exactly Crossfit but it will do

Hooray for 5k!! Who wants to run with me?? After work, I am going to head to a track in the ‘hood and run. Any takers?? I was thinking of going to Grady, but if anyone has other suggestions, I am open to them. Not sure how to get into the GT track, for instance, but I am an expert at breaking into Grady. We could borrow some clocks from the gym, or I will have my watch, and since you will most assuredly be behind me, I can time you. That’s right, I said it. I have had enough humiliation for one round of crossfit workouts, with Marie pressing my jerk. Will someone please man up and accompany me?

for the first time, I’m thinking about actually running..just can’t do it today or until the weekend…so, we’ll see.
Bethanie, there’s your Dirty South pic. Get on it!

I ran the 5k this morning in my neighborhood. It sucked!…Lots of hills and pollen. It took me 23:24. Not my best time, but I didn’t cramp up…so that is a plus. I’ve been sneezing and coughing for the last 45 minutes…awesome!!!

Can anybody recommend some good places (not on a track) to do a 5k here? Maybe a park or something. The area around my apartment isn’t really conducive to safe or consistent running.

The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because they are generally the same people. 🙂

Sorry, Margaret…I would love to run with you because I need it but the foot will still not allow running. I’m not a happy camper.

sorry your foot is still hurting. looks like you’re handling OHS well, however, and we all know that’s more important than running, right? I will be content to plug in my iPod and run on my own…unless I can convince LaLa to run with me!! Rob would probably lap me anyway.

sorry momo, I just got home from work. Working late again. I love to run, but I am dying from this pollen. I’m heading to the gym to do something in-doors.

Momo, for a track, I often got to the one at Agnes Scott. It is open to the public from 5pm until dark on weekdays. Not as nice as Grady’s, but your standard 400m track with a compacted rubber surface, lanes, etc. It is next to their tennis courts (which are also available to the public, by the way).
Peterbassi, for a car-free route near the gym, you can do laps around the park at Peachtree Battle and Howell Mill — can’t remember the park, but it is bracketed by Howell Mill and Northside, you’ll see tons of joggers out there and lots of parking on Woodward Way or Wesley Drive.
